Painter, sculptor and architect, Francesco Marino di Teana possessed immense talent and a great demand for his own work. He devoted his life and his work to observing, designing and building modeling projects for urban space. Philosopher and poet, he meditated on theories intended to rethink the urban environment and the way we live there. “The habitat and architecture of future cities should now count with aesthetics and harmony in order to best adapt to our new lifestyles and to be more egalitarian”. That was the goal this hard worker set for himself. Never stop at a line of satisfaction but always work further, surpass yourself.
In 1961, Alberto Giacometti was on the jury of the “competition for a factory” (Saint Gobain) and wrote about this young artist: “You cannot say that it is an object. It’s exactly between the two fields (art and construction). Because what touches me is indeed its rhythm, its sensitivity, and therefore its plastic elements “.
Marino di Teana has always favored commissioned work, he is the author of more than 35 monumental sculptures in the Paris region, including the sculpture “Liberty in” Fontenay-sous-Bois (Val-de-Marne), selected by competition in 1990, 21 meters in height for 100 tonnes of Corten steel. It is the largest steel sculpture in Europe.
With the upcoming release of the catalog raisonné of his works, the organization of a Great Exhibition at the Uffizi Museum in Florence in 2019, Marino di Teana, somewhat forgotten yesterday, is today finally recognized as one of the most important Italian Sculptor. of the XXth century.
